SYNOPSIS:
The hottest college football safety in the nation just asked me to be his fake girlfriend.
And I just asked him to take my virginity.
Clay Johnson has the abs of Adonis and the deadly smirk of the devil, himself. There’s hardly a day he’s not headline material during football season, and never a day he isn’t a bullseye target for every girl on campus.
He used to be the easiest of all the players for me to wrangle as the Public Relations Coordinator, but after a nasty breakup with his high school sweetheart, he’s a mess.
And a complete pain in my ass.
We meet to discuss his behavior and review media relations standards. But when he witnesses how I fall to pieces in front of my guitar-toting crush, his wheels start turning. And he cooks up this absurd plan.
He helps me get noticed.
I help him make his ex jealous.
All by pretending to be in a relationship.
What he doesn’t realize is that this bookworm is a virgin, and far from versed in seducing a musician. So, to sweeten the deal, I convince him to help me — not just to get my crush’s attention, but to knock his socks off once I have it.
But the more I come unraveled at the hands of Clay Johnson, the more trouble I have discerning what’s fake and what’s undoubtedly real — particularly, the way my heart flutters every time that breathtaking man touches me.
We set the rules. We put the safeguards in place.
But they say rules are meant to be broken.
They probably should have added that hearts are, too.
Blind Side is a fake dating college sports romance with “lessons” and opposites attract. It is a complete stand-alone.
Danii’s Review
I cried!
I fucking cried!
Water dripped out of my goddamn eyes!
Let me start by saying that I don’t often cry while reading books. I get emotional, sure, but I hardly ever cry, and this book had me sobbing like a baby. Even while writing this, I want to cry.
H & h started fake dating so the H could make his ex jealous and the h could get the attention of the guy she likes. However, they begin to fall in love, and she believes the H doesn’t want her due to his affections for his ex.
The things the H would say to the h at times were definitely swoon-worthy. For example, “You love to study so much, Kitten… study me.”
“You don’t want to be someone’s muse. You want to be someone’s undoing. And let me tell you Kitten… You’re mine.”
He also reads her smutty books to figure out what she likes and dislikes.
The h is a virgin and never had a boyfriend, and the H was in a 5 year relationship before the h, so both characters aren’t sleeping around or anything.
From beginning to end, Giana is one of those heroines that makes you root for her. She’s not overly sassy, nor is she a pick me h.
I have a serious thing about heroines having a comeback for everything, to the point where it exhausts me. Giana was neither of those things. She was sweet, smart, and knew when to fight back. She wasn’t a pushover at all. I couldn’t find any fault with G that’s how great she was.
My favorite part was in the bathroom with Clay’s ex.
Maliyah watched me for far too long, long enough that I considered saying goodbye and pushing past her. But before I could, she took a step toward me, lowering her voice.
“But let me just be clear,” she said, looking down her nose at me. “I want him to be happy. I’ll leave him alone. But the second you slip up, I’ll be here, waiting.” She smiled, the curl of her lips making my stomach drop. “And I promise, if I get him back?” Her eyebrow hiked as she eyed me. “He won’t remember your name, let alone why he ever wanted you.”
My jaw tightened, heart spiking with the kind of fight-or-flight response I imagine my ancestors used to feel when getting chased by a predator.
But I reminded myself that I wasn’t defenseless.
I had a fucking sword of a tongue.
“And I promise you,” I said, stepping up to her just as much. “That you won’t get the chance.”
I smiled sweetly, patting her on the shoulder as I pushed past her.
Every molecule in me wanted to jump and thrust my fist into the air in victory.
Clay is definitely the textbook definition of a book boyfriend, and boy did he not disappoint. Sure, he might have broken G’s heart a bit, but he never intended to, but sometimes when you’re put in a hopeless position like Clay, you do desperate, stupid things. Even when they were faking it, his love for the heroine was real.
He loved G so much that you could literally feel it through the way he talked about her.
I typically avoid books with the fake dating cliche since they are all the same to me, but this one was different, and both Giana and Clay were incredibly lovable.
