SYNOPSIS:
Darling Arrow, I shouldn’t be writing this. It’s not as if I’m ever going to send you this letter, and there are a million reasons why. First of all, I was sent to this reform school as a punishment for a petty, totally inconsequential crime. Not to ogle the principal’s hot son around the campus. Second of all, you’re a giant jerk. You’re arrogant and moody and so cold. Sometimes I think I shouldn’t even like you. But strangely your coldness sets me on fire. The way your athletic body moves on the soccer field and your powerful thighs sprawl across that motorcycle of yours make me go inappropriately breathless. But that’s not the worst part. The worst part is that you, Arrow Carlisle, are not only the principal’s hot son. You also happen to be the love of my sister’s life. And I really shouldn’t be thinking about my sister’s boyfriend, or rather fiancé (I overheard a conversation about the ring that I shouldn’t have). Now if I can only stop writing you these meaningless letters that I’ll never send and you’ll never read…Never yours, Salem
NOTE: This book is a standalone and it DOES NOT contain cheating.

“Some girls are born perfect.
They have perfect hair, perfect eyes, perfect skin.
They have perfect grades and high ambitions. They’re popular and admired. They’re adored and revered. And loved.
I’m not one of them.
That’s the first thing to know about me: I’m not perfect.
I have flaws. Many, many flaws.
I don’t have perfect grades. I don’t have high ambitions.
I don’t get why the sum of all the angles of a triangle has to be one hundred and eighty or the world will collapse. Or why when we talk about the heart, we reduce it to a muscular organ with four chambers that’s sole purpose is to pump blood through the body.
I’m far from being popular and I’ve got something called witchy eyes.”
Excerpt From: A. Kent, Saffron. “My Darling Arrow.” Apple Books.
This is how I know I’m about to love a character no matter what they did or would do in the future. And boy did I love Salem. No one writes forbidden romance as Saffron A. Kent does; she takes her characters on the most emotional, heartbreaking journey and then places them back together perfectly.
After a tragedy, Salem and her sister, Sarah, were sent to live with Arrow and his mother. The moment Salem laid eyes on her guardians’ son, she had this Insta-love moment, but the moment Arrow laid eyes on the older sister, he was far gone. Salem is the perfect blend of sweet and rebellious, which is why she ended up at a reform boarding school where she meets Callie, Poe, and Wyn, where they became great friends that break a few rules together. Salem was misunderstood, and neither her guardian nor her sister took the time to pay attention to her or even try to understand her. She was the sweet, kind-hearted girl that hid under the whole rule breaker, bad girl persona.
“You’re the girl every guy runs away from. You’re every guy’s nightmare, Salem. Because you’re the girl with too much love inside you.”
Arrow and the heroines’ sister decided to quit their 8-year relationship, which causes the hero to move back to his hometown, taking a job as a coach at the school the heroine goes to. They first met at a bar where the heroine is unaware of the hero and her sister’s relationship status, so when she sees him kissing another woman, she confronts him. Eventually, after the heroine realizes that her sister’s ex is now her school’s coach, she tries her best to keep away from him because of her forbidden feelings. Like all SAK books, the hero is a complete asshole who treats the heroine however he feels. As the story progressed, eventually, the heroine starts falling deeper for the hero despite the way he treats her and him being her sister’s ex. As their relationship progresses, the hero is conflicted with the way he feels towards the heroine.
This was one of those books I couldn’t put down because of who the author is, and well, it’s a forbidden romance, and who doesn’t love a great forbidden love story. Salem is definitely one of those FMC readers can relate to; her character was well written and perfectly flawed.
“I want him to burn me, cut me, slice me open.
I don’t care.
I’ll still smile at him. I’ll still love him. I’ll still dive into the ocean and jump off an airplane for him”.
